Job description

Due to growth in our Quality Assurance team, we have an exciting opportunity for a Product Technologist to join us, based full time in our Support Centre in Speke. This role will oversee all products within our General Merchandising categories, including Homeware, Gifting and Lighting, ensuring they are safe, fully tested and meet our customers’ expectations.


This role would suit someone with hands-on experience in testing across a wide range of categories, who thrives in a fast paced and agile environment.


In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the buying teams, ensuring all launched products are safe and fit for purpose.
  • Reviewing samples against product specification and set clear manufacturing, testing, and packaging guidelines.
  • Ensuring that each product has all relevant regulatory test requirements in place, by reviewing each report supplied, alongside conducting product risk assessments.
  • Analysing product returns, faults and customer complaints to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and directly with suppliers, to launch product ranges in accordance with critical path timelines.
  • Liaising with the Hong Kong office and direct supply.


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in a Technical or QA role, preferably as a Technologist within a leading retailer.
  • Broad technical knowledge of products, in terms of specification, performance, and testing.
  • A good understanding of manufacturing methods and quality standards.
  • Experience working with Electricals, Kitchen, Tableware and Home Accessories including Candles and Diffusers.
  • Ability to work autonomously, whilst being able to prioritise and work to project plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable liaising at all levels, and providing advice/ guidance on QA policies and procedures.
  • Good IT skills, including working knowledge of Excel.
