Employee Relations Specialist (3-Month Contract)
Location: Birmingham, UK
Salary: £41,000–£46,000 per annum
Hourly Rate: £21–£24 per hour (Inside IR35)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Hybrid Working:
- First 2 weeks: 5 days per week on site for induction
- After induction: 1–2 days per week in the Birmingham office
A leading organisation within the public sector is seeking two experienced Employee Relations Specialists to join their busy HR function on a 3-month contract. This is a fast-paced, high-volume environment, ideal for candidates who are confident in managing complex ER cases end-to-end.
Essential Experience
- Proven background in Employee Relations case management within a high-volume, fast-paced environment (e.g., shared services, public sector, large corporate).
- Confident managing 40–50+ live cases simultaneously.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience using a digital case management system.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with managers at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume ER caseload of approximately 50 active cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, capability, performance, and probation issues.
- Provide telephone and online support to managers, offering clear ER guidance throughout each case.
- No requirement to attend or chair hearings — this role focuses on case management and advisory support.
- Use a case management system (experience with any system is acceptable; the organisation uses Business Workflow).
- Ensure all advice and case handling is aligned with current UK employment law, policies, and best practice standards.
