The Biodiversity Consultancy Ltd is looking for an Researcher, Sustainable Infrastructure in Cambridge

Job description

Salary: £30,000



The researcher would work in our Sustainable Infrastructure practice supporting our clients integrate nature into business decision making through the development and implementation of corporate and site-based strategies for nature.


Responsibilities:


  • Support the design and delivery of projects for leading companies across a range of sectors (e.g. Renewable energy, mining and forestry).
  • Support clients to align with best practice standards (e.g. IFC's PS6) by supporting the technical development of documents and strategies such as: Biodiversity Action Plans, Biodiversity Monitoring and Evaluation Plans, Offset feasibility studies etc
  • Supporting the assessment of the biodiversity impact and dependencies of companies with complex value chains
  • Support on proposals to new and existing clients.
  • Expand our global business network in sustainability, engaging with new and existing clients and partners
  • Researching and creating case studies to illustrate TBC approaches
  • Writing and synthesising information into clear and concise reports


Essential attributes and experience


  • Thorough understanding of ecological principles in an international biodiversity context
  • Data literate, with the ability to work with complex environmental datasets
  • Experience in presenting complex concepts in a concise way to a business audience
  • Superb communicator with specialists and non-specialists alike
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills
  • Organised with tasks, and reliably producing what's asked of them in the timeframe indicated
  • Attention to detail, and care taken with work produced
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility of individual tasks assigned to them
  • Critical thinking, with strong problem-solving skills
  • Someone who genuinely enjoys learning new skills and approaches
  • Degree in relevant discipline
  • Ability to work with remote/ international teams
  • Able to regularly commute (i.e. 2 days/ week) to either London or Cambridge


Desirable attributes:


  • 1-2 years field experience, preferably gained in an emerging economy context
  • Experience of working in consultancy
  • Knowledge of lender and global environmental frameworks and action
  • Experience with the main sectors we work in (renewable energy, mining, forestry)
  • A proven ability to be able to work in French or Spanish.
