Head of Finance

Based: Alderley Edge (some travel to South site monthly)

Salary: circa £75k + bonus + car allowance + benefits including enhanced pension

Whitaker Smith Recruitment are working with a rapidly scaling, international engineering business that’s investing heavily in the UK market & they’re now looking to appoint a who can truly take ownership of the UK businesses (circa £20m turnover & growing organically & through acquisition)

This role will be hands on overseeing all areas of finance with strong focus on commercial decision-making and partnering directly with senior leadership to influence strategy with opportunity to become Finance Director in the next few years

Role:

• Deliver management accounts and reporting for UK entities whilst overseeing all accounting functions including general ledger, P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, UK GAAP, and statutory reporting requirements, leading on UK audit liaising with external auditors and group
• Lead on annual audits, liaising with external auditors and Group Finance.
• Support the Directors and SLT to develop budgets and forecasts
• Leading on business planning and financial modelling to support growth
• Provide financial analysis and insight to optimise EBITDA and drive operational performance.
• Support the Directors in representing financial results and forecasts to group
• Lead capital-raising processes, working closely with Group Finance, banks and lenders
• Business partnering with Project Managers/Operations supporting with margin analysis, project profitability plans, WIP, job costings & forecasting
• Leading on financial integration of new acquisitions aligning financial processes, systems and reporting to UK & group
• Lead the future implementation of UK ERP and offering continuous process and system improvements/efficiences
• Leading a team ensuring their training & development at all times

Experience:

• ACA/CIMA/ACCA qualifies with at least 5 years post-qualified experience
• Proven experience as Financial Controller or Head of Finance within an SME
• Understanding of IFRS, budgeting, forecasting required
• Experience managing external relationships
• Exposure to project based accounting / CAPEX highly desirable
• Advanced Excel / financial modelling skills. Highly analytical & commercial
• Experience within manufacturing/construction/engineering highly desirable
• Comfortable with travel to UK site in the South monthly
