About The RoleBalfour Beatty is seeking an experienced Appointed Person (AP) to take a lead role in the management of lifting operations across our high-profile N1–N2 Headhouse projects. This is a key leadership position in our Regional Build team, providing assurance, coordination and technical expertise to ensure all lifting activities are planned and delivered safely, efficiently and in full compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
You will be responsible for the management, organisation, planning and control of all lifting operations across the N1–N2 Headhouse sites, acting as the Lead Appointed Person and central point of contact for all lifting-related matters.
What you'll be doing
As a Lifting Appointed Person You Will
- Maintain full accountability and responsibility for all site lifting operations.
- Act as Lead Appointed Person, ensuring lifting roles, interfaces, levels of authority and responsibilities are clearly defined and communicated across site teams.
- Ensure that all lifting appointments under your control are formally appointed in writing and that competence has been appropriately assessed.
- Assign mentors to Appointed Persons and lifting personnel, where required, to support professional development and newly qualified or less experienced APs.
- Ensure full AP coverage across the project, with sufficient time, resources and authority provided to allow APs and responsible persons to fulfil their duties in line with BBCL and BBV requirements.
- Support site teams and lifting APs/responsible persons, actively seeking feedback and resolving issues raised.
- Act as the central point of contact for lifting operations across the N1–N2 Headhouse projects, providing technical, procedural, process and regulatory advice to the project team.
You Will Have The Following
- Proven experience as an Appointed Person on complex construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of lifting operations, regulations, and best practice.
- Confident leader with the ability to mentor, influence and support multidisciplinary teams.
- Hold relevant tickets and training to include, CPCS,NORS & CITB
