Research Officer

Salary from £43,277 to £51,714 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £55,497 pa inclusive of London allowance

Funding is available to support this position for 12 months

The Research Officer will work under the direction of the Director of the Middle East Centre at LSE, Dr Katerina Dalacoura. They should have proven expertise in at least one aspect in the study of secularity in the Middle East: government policy, religiosity, foreign policy and foreign relations, and the sociological aspects of secularisation (in relation to state institutions). There is a preference for candidates that have worked on more than one country in the MENA region.

Main Duties And Responsibilities Of The Post

The Research Officer will assist Dr Dalacoura in the preparation of a major funding application for an inter-disciplinary study of secularity in the Middle East and North Africa.

Candidates Should Have

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline and topic and expertise in the study of secularity in the Middle East
  • Ability to produce published high-quality research and organise research activities
  • Experience of carrying out research in at least one MENA country
  • Experience of putting together major funding applications and fundraising for research activities
