Our client, a well-established company located near Shanghai, China, is driving innovation in areas such as environmental materials, optical films, and advanced material development. To strengthen their international R&D capabilities, they are looking for a specialist in advanced materials to join their team.


This position is ideal for professionals with a strong interest in sustainable material innovation, especially in the fields of biodegradable plastics, modified compounds, and polyester-based materials. With a wide-ranging influence across multiple industries, the role offers the chance to contribute to meaningful technological and environmental advancements.


Position Details:

This is initially a three-year position starting in March 2026, offering the flexibility of remote work. On-site engagement in China is optional, contingent upon mutual agreement and successful collaboration outcomes. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead research and innovation projects in sustainable and biodegradable materials, emphasizing alternatives to conventional polymers like PBAT.

• Assess new materials for sustainability, carbon footprint reduction, and market feasibility within existing and future product portfolios.

• Advance research initiatives in polyester polymerization, optical film technologies, hot water soluble materials, and innovative PU resin formulations.

• Develop strategies to integrate sustainable materials and designs into production processes, optimizing both environmental and operational performance.

• Strengthen partnerships with academic institutions, industry leaders, and research organizations to enrich the sustainable materials knowledge base.

• Actively contribute to internal knowledge transfer, promoting sustainable material development and application practices across the company.


Required Qualifications:

• Ideally holding a Ph.D. In Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Natural Sciences, or a closely related discipline.

• Ideally 3 years post-doctoral professional experience in advanced materials research and development.

• Proven expertise in material sciences with a focus on sustainability and environmental impact analysis.

• Knowledge of industrial manufacturing techniques (e.g., injection molding, forming processes) advantageous but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with sustainability assessments, lifecycle analyses, and eco-friendly material innovation.

• Fluent in English; additional language skills are a plus.
