Finance Software Trainer / Consultant (Part-Time, Hybrid)

Location: Swindon (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum (pro rata)

Contract: Part-time (22.5 hours per week)

Overview

Our client is seeking a Finance Software Trainer / Consultant to join a specialist software business delivering market-leading financial and administrative systems to public sector organisations. This part-time, hybrid role offers an excellent opportunity for a candidate who enjoys training, client engagement, and problem-solving, and who is motivated by helping users gain confidence with software solutions.

Full product and domain training will be provided, making this role suitable for candidates with strong communication skills and a foundational understanding of finance or administration.

Responsibilities

  • Configure financial software for new clients, including chart of accounts setup, data migration, and end-user training (remote and on-site).
  • Implement administrative software modules, such as bookings management, asset inventories, allotments, and related systems.
  • Deliver clear, practical, and user-friendly training sessions tailored to different user groups.
  • Provide refresher training and ongoing client support to maximise software adoption and value.
  • Support clients with year-end accounts preparation and general data entry tasks when required.
  • Maintain and update training materials, workbooks, and user guides in line with software releases.
  • Explain how finance and administration systems integrate, ensuring clients understand end-to-end processes.
  • Provide office-based support, responding to user queries and troubleshooting issues.
  • Represent our client at conferences and events, promoting software solutions professionally.
  • Undertake additional tasks as required to support clients and the wider team.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a patient and professional approach to client interaction.
  • Basic numeracy and financial awareness; prior experience with finance reporting is advantageous but not essential.
  • High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (Excel proficiency is particularly beneficial).
  • Experience with finance or accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, or similar) is desirable.
  • Process-driven mindset, comfortable working within structured office procedures.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative team.
  • Previous experience in a software, public sector, or local government environment is beneficial but not required.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own transport, due to occasional travel requirements.
