About the role

 

The Financial Reporting Accountant will support the Financial Reporting team in delivering the full year Annual Report as well as the monthly accounts whilst providing technical accounting support to the finance community.

 

Key accountabilities / responsibilities

The role has a responsibility to liaise with segments to ensure reporting to Group is both timely and to a high standard, providing guidance and support on Group accounting policies whilst being responsible for preparing monthly consolidated accounts (consolidating, reconciliations, journals etc.)

Responsible for preparing elements of month end reporting as well as external reporting and ensuring that reporting is in line with IFRS. Supporting the Head of Group Financial Reporting with external reporting requirements (IMSs, Interim Announcement and Annual Report) is a key accountability.

Supporting and delivering on Finance Projects including improvement of controls and processes within the Group Finance function, as well as the below, may be required on an adhoc basis:

  • Providing technical accounting support to the Head of Group Financial Reporting and key finance personnel within the business
  • Writing technical accounting papers to document and support accounting treatment adopted and justify areas of judgement, review accounting policies to further develop the Group Accounting Policy manual
  • Delivering technical accounting updates and training on the Group Accounting Policy manual to segment finance teams and help in performing assessments of any upcoming revisions to accounting standards

Skills and experience

 

The ideal candidate should have experience in group consolidations as well as external reporting under IFRS with a strong technical accounting background. Being able to deliver confidently and quickly despite changing priorities with an ability to prioritise and take ownership to achieve deadlines are also requirements.

A high level of drive, commitment and self-motivation with high standards and attention to detail in all aspects of output are required, along with the ability to challenge decisions/ways of working to drive better results. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation and across segments.

The ideal candidate should also be a recent big 4 ACA qualified accountant with strong up-to-date financial reporting knowledge (IFRS) with IT literacy using Microsoft Office, mainly Excel, Word, Powerpoint.
