I am looking for a student to work 4 evenings a week in our home as a nanny/mother's help. The role will include looking after our three children (ages 12, 10, 8) and general housekeeping.
The work in Monday-Thursday evening fixed hours starting from about 7pm; but with the opportunity to pick up extra hours here and there. Some of the work may involve travel to/from their after school activities. Any travel outside of your travelcard will be reimbursed.
Duties include: looking after the children, making sure they practice piano, do homework etc; often feeding them dinner & putting them to bed.
Household duties include: general kitchen and bathroom cleaning, vacuuming (day to day cleaning), especially helping the kids keep their rooms tidy!
We are looking for a bright engaged individual, studying anything to do with child development a bonus but not necessary. Our last mother's help has moved on to go to medical school having completed her degree in Bio sciences.
We will ask that you complete a paediatric first aide course, if you haven't already, which we will pay for.
We have 2 boys (8/10) and a girl (12), so are open to applications from all sexes.
Payment starts at £10/hour and we are looking at an average of 10 hours/week. You will be hired on a self-employed/student basis and be responsible for claiming your income to HMRC if necessary.
I am a stand up comedian and my husband is a full time martial arts teacher. We both work evenings.
The children are highly capable and enthusiastic, like all siblings they fight, and our 12yo is going on 15 it seems - but she has been very close to our previous nanny and we are hoping for a similar positive relationship for her and the boys with whomever takes up the post.
This is a great opportunity for someone to earn a regular, decent wage while still able to have their daytimes free for uni and their weekends free on the whole for socialising.
Applicants need to be clear what the role is. It is NOT babysitting. I do not expect to come home to find you on the sofa on your phone once the kids are in bed. A 2 or 3 hour shift should be filled with whatever housework needs doing while the children are otherwise engaged.
We ask you to consider whether you would be happy/willing/able to do this job for 2-3 years. It is really hard on children to adjust to people coming and going from their lives. If you know you are planning to study abroad next year please DON'T apply.
That you are as honest with us as possible as soon as possible. We understand that students have deadlines, exams & special occasions. IF you know that you might need some time off or flexibility as something looms then please ask ASAP. We are as flexible as we can be with Christmas and end-of-year exams, but do expect a professional approach from you, regarding your shifts the rest of the year. Knowing what your hours are it is your responsibility to time manage your studies appropriately. Meaning we can't grant time off for every paper deadline every other week.
