Associate Technical Business Analyst


  • 2x per week in the London or Portsmouth office


Our client, a IT consultancy is looking for an Associate Technical Business Analyst to join the team on a permanent basis.


You'll support the delivery of AI-enabled automations by owning analysis tasks, documentation, and adoption activities


Responsibilities

  • Discovery & Workshop Support: Prepare agendas and materials, capture outcomes and action items, and clarify goals and success metrics
  • Requirements Development: Create detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for small workstreams; maintain traceability and organize backlogs in Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Process Analysis: Develop as-is and to-be BPMN workflows; identify handoffs, controls, and automation opportunities; validate with subject-matter experts.
  • MCP Tooling & Documentation: Use approved prompts/templates to auto-generate documentation and code scaffolds; suggest minor template improvements and report issues.
  • Solution Design Support: Compile context packs (processes, data, constraints) and capture non-functional requirements like performance, security, and auditability.
  • Data Profiling: Perform basic SQL/Python checks on data availability and quality; document findings and metrics to assess feasibility.
  • Prototyping & Validation: Assist in creating PoCs or MVPs using low-code and AI tools; gather user feedback and update artifacts.
  • Governance & Compliance: Adhere to information security, GDPR/data-protection, model-governance, and responsible-AI practices; ensure outputs are peer-reviewed and approved.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or Data/Analytics or a strong relevant project portfolio.
  • 1–3 years’ experience in business analysis, automation, or software delivery (including internships or placements).
  • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted tools (e.g., MCP, GitHub Copilot) and interest in prompt/template engineering.
  • Knowledge of process modeling (BPMN), user-story writing, and backlog management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence).
  • Basic SQL and Python skills for data profiling and validation.
  • Understanding of REST APIs, integration concepts, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Experience working collaboratively in Agile/Scrum teams.
