Financial Analyst – First Move from Practice

Location: Essex

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + benefits

Overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a practice-trained accountant or analyst looking to make their first move into a commercial, in-house finance role.

The Role

You’ll support the business by producing high-quality financial analysis, reporting and insight, helping teams across the organisation understand performance and make informed decisions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting financial planning and analysis to meet business objectives
• Building and maintaining financial models, forecasts and analysis using Excel
• Preparing accurate management information and reporting
• Presenting financial data in a clear, structured and visually effective way
• Working closely with commercial and operational teams to gather data and provide insight
• Maintaining clear documentation of models, assumptions and reporting processes
• Communicating financial findings confidently, both in writing and verbally
• Keeping up to date with best practice in financial analysis and reporting

About You

This role would suit someone with a practice background who is ready to step into industry and apply their technical skills in a more commercial setting.

You’re likely to have:

• Strong Excel capability, including modelling, forecasting and data analysis
• A solid grounding in financial principles from practice or a professional services environment
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint
• An analytical mindset with strong attention to detail
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines
• Clear, confident communication skills
• Exposure to Power BI, ERP systems or tools such as Navision would be beneficial, but is not essential.
