Business Development & Operations Assistant

Location: London (Hybrid – up to 3 days per week in the office)

Salary: £50,000–£58,000 + benefits

Sector: Consultancy / Infrastructure / Professional Services

A leading international engineering and consultancy group is continuing to expand its UK operations and is seeking a highly organised Business Development & Operations Assistant to support both commercial growth and internal operational excellence.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive professional looking to combine business development coordination with hands‑on operational support at senior leadership level. The organisation is known for its involvement in nationally significant infrastructure projects and for its agile, human‑scale structure backed by global expertise.


The Role

This hybrid position offers a 50/50 split between:

Business Development Support (50%)

  • Assisting the Business Development Manager with bid preparation and tender submissions
  • Coordinating inputs from technical and partner teams
  • Managing document control, formatting, and compliance
  • Tracking and updating the opportunity pipeline
  • Supporting creation of capability statements and marketing materials
  • Maintaining CRM systems and supporting client engagement follow‑up

Operational & Leadership Support (50%)

  • Providing structured operational support to the Managing Director
  • Preparing internal reporting, dashboards and performance tracking
  • Supporting governance, mobilisation documentation and internal procedures
  • Improving information flow between BD, delivery and finance teams
  • Assisting with resource planning and internal coordination
  • Reducing day‑to‑day operational burden on senior leadership

Note: This is not an engineering design or technical delivery role.


Candidate Profile

We are seeking a professional with:

  • 5–10 years’ experience in consultancy, infrastructure, construction or professional services
  • Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail
  • Experience supporting bids, commercial coordination or operational processes
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders
  • Strong written communication and document production skills
  • The ability to work autonomously, proactively and collaboratively

Experience in a technical consultancy environment is advantageous but not essential. French language skills are a plus.
