Behaviour Mentor – Derby

Contract: Full-time or part-time, long-term or short-term

Milk Education is recruiting dedicated, patient, and proactive Behaviour Mentors to support pupils across schools in Derby. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviour, and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils to improve behaviour, engagement, and social-emotional skills.
• Support pupils in developing strategies to regulate emotions and resolve conflict.
• Encourage positive behaviour and reinforce school policies consistently.
• Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to support pupils’ individual behaviour plans.
• Track and monitor progress, providing feedback to staff and parents as appropriate.
• Be a positive role model and build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

• Recent and relevant experience working with children and young people, ideally in schools, alternative provision, or SEMH settings.
• Understanding of behaviour management strategies and positive reinforcement techniques.
• Calm, patient, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work under guidance while taking initiative to support pupils.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
