Westway Trust are seeking experienced and qualified Adult Learning Tutors to join their expanding tutor team to deliver accredited and non-accredited Digital Skills courses to adult learners in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea (RBKC) area. This is a part-time, term-time role.The primary responsibility of the Digital Skills Tutor will be to design and deliver high quality, learner-centred teaching, and learning and assessment experiences to our employed and unemployed adult learners from Entry level to Level 1, while supporting the Adult and Community Learning Manager to achieve the Trust's strategic objectives.We are looking for tutors who thrive on flexibility as the number of courses allocated to you, along with the course subject, and the level of learners and course location may vary from term to term. We aim to enable people to progress in work, in learning and in life. Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds and have different prior experiences of learning.Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:TeachingPlan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in line with the curriculum requirements and the needs of individual learners, ensuring learning objectives are metAssess learners' abilities and identify areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordinglyRigorously monitor and track learners' progress, providing regular feedback and implementing strategies to address areas of weakness or underperformanceSet and mark assignments, tests, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to learners to support their learning and improvementEstablish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, actively promoting learner participation, motivation, and confidence in professional developmentMaintain accurate records of learners' attendance, progress, and assessment outcomes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirementsAdministrationTo carry out and keep records of initial and diagnostic assessments, identifying areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordinglyTo identify materials and equipment/resource needs to assist the provision of teaching and learning by studentsTo develop differentiated Individual Learning Plans with students, monitor and track learners' progress, providing regular feedback and strategically addressing areas of weakness maintaining up to date course files and submitting accurate data on attendance and achievement within agreed deadlinesPreparing groups of learners for accredited assessment (exam or portfolio) & non-accredited assessment (RARPA), marking assessments and taking part in internal moderation and/or consultation meetings with appropriate Trust staffQualifications:Teaching or training qualification for working in adult learning (e.g. PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS or equivalent suitable experience)A minimum GCSE English Grade C or equivalent.Level 3 or higher in a relevant subject (e.g. ICT) or willingness to work towards a Digital Skills teaching qualification (desirable).Knowledge, Skills and Experience:Practical work experience as an ICT Tutor, demonstrating hands‐on knowledge and skills applicable to real‐world scenariosExperience of teaching adult learners and an understanding of appropriate teaching strategies in a similar roleExperience of devising course outlines and schemes of workExperience of managing mixed groups of learnersKnowledge and experience of working with a variety of exam boardsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written and the ability to work as part of a highly collaborative teamUnderstanding of the RARPA (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement in non‐accredited learning) systemExperience of working/teaching refugees and or asylum seekersBasic understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices to impart essential knowledge to studentsThe ability to speak a community languageBenefits of working with us:Great location in the heart of Portobello, North KensingtonInvestor in People (IiP) employerFree gym membership at health club oneminute walk from the officeLife AssuranceSeason ticket / bicycle loanTo view the full job description click on the right hand side.If you would like assistance on filling out the questions on the application form, please send us an email to HR@westway.org or give us a call on 020 8962 5720 and ask for HR.The application deadline is Sunday 1 February when applications will be reviewed and shortlisted for interview.
