Job title:  IT BAU Project Manager

Level / Grade: Role level 5

Location: Peterborough (with some travel possibly within the group)

Job purpose:

As a BAU Project Manager in Thomas Cook IT you will work as part of the in Destination Management IT team, you will lead small to medium IT and business development or maintenance projects, with full responsibility for delivering against project, scope, budget, quality and timeline. You will also provide operational assistance as required by the iDM Business Sponsor.  Some travel to overseas resorts can be expected as part of this role. 

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Takes full responsibility for the definition, documentation and successful delivery of IT projects (typically with high-risk dependencies).
  • Identifies business value and quality metrics by which benefits/performance can be measured
  • Monitors and controls resources, revenue and capital costs against the project budget and manages expectations of all project stakeholders
  • Manages small project delivery teams, facilitating effective working relations and monitoring progress to agreed quality measures
  • Selects methods and tools, using iterative techniques where appropriate, ensuring that effective project control, change control, risk management and testing processes are maintained.
  • Implements effective stakeholder engagement and communication plans
  • Good problem solver, takes own initiative and drives robust decisions
  • Takes ownership of escalated operational issues and drives resolution
  • Monitors progress against business objectives specified in the business case.
  • Identifies where change is required, and plans for variations In consultation with stakeholders, ensuring that change management protocols are implemented.

Skills, know-how and experience:

Must have:

  • Experienced project leadership capabilities that drive team engagement and produce high quality development deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills with a strong commercial mind set and business acumen.
  • Proactive and tenacious ‘can do’ attitude to unblock issues and ensure progress
  • Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organisation.
  • Ability to understand technical risks and assist with technical problem solving.
  • An understanding of Active Directory, email systems, networking and server infrastructure would be an advantage

Preferred:

  • Ability to communicate vision and ability to anticipate future business needs.
  • Experience of travel industry
  • International experience
  • Knowledge of CRM systems and O365
  • English, German, or French an advantage

Technical / professional qualifications:

  • Degree level of education preferred
  • Project Management Professional Certification or equivalent

Key performance indicators:

  • Delivery of Projects in line with agreed roadmap and target architecture to scope, quality, on time and to budget.
  • Positive engagement in Operational and BAU issues as required by business sponsor.
  • Build strong working relationships with immediate team, IT teams and business sponsors.
