Care Assistant, Days - Lakeside

Full TimepermanentUp to 30 hours

We're on the lookout for a Care Assistant to join us at Lakeside Care Home, specifically between the hours of 8am and 2pm, working alternate weekends.

Role Overview:As a Carer, you will support the home in delivering the highest standards of person-centred care, preserving the dignity, respect and wellbeing of our residents at all times.

Experience working in a health and social care setting is preferred, however, this is not essential.

This role is only between the hours of 8 am and 2 pm; the successful applicant will be required to work alternate weekends.

Role Specific Duties:

Ensure that residents are at the heart of care delivery and their wishes and preferences are taken into consideration to enhance their wellbeing

To understand personal care planning and taking responsibility for all aspects of care where required

To contribute to the efficient running of the home at all times

To support residents to maintain their relationships and connections with the local community

To ensure the highest standard of individualised person-centred care and attention is given to all residents in the home whilst treating them with dignity, privacy and respect at all times

To support and assist residents with their personal care such as washing and dressing

To administer daily medicines in line with their GP instructions and liaise with the Nurse in charge once this has been completed

To undertake minor medical duties such as oral hygiene, application of topical creams, skin integrity checks, catheter care and end-of-life

To ensure along with the wider team that all the residents' needs are being met for example their medical, physical, social and emotional needs

Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the residents we are supporting.

Working with Others:

To develop effective working relationships with other employees and support and develop new and less experienced members of the team

To attend daily clinical meetings arranged by the nurse in charge

To attend and participate in team meetings

To be responsible and prompt with informing the Nurse in charge of any changes in the needs of the residents

To maintain and develop relationships with the residents, their families, friends and other visitors to the home

To be responsible for the health and safety of yourself as well as others in the home under the Health and Safety regulations whilst promptly reporting any hazards or potential hazards to the relevant person

Leading by Example:

To seek opportunities for professional and personal growth and development

Be a role model for other members of the team and be an ambassador for the service

Be professional, polite and reasonable at all times

To provide a warm welcome to all new residents, team members and all visitors and to familiarise them with the home

Personal and Professional Development:

Attend statutory training and any other training as directed whilst being open to learning opportunities

Have a basic knowledge of CQC and the fundamental standards
