Personal Assistant for disabled PhD student, journalist and activist in London

Personal assistant for disabled PhD student. Flexible hours. Full training provided. No experience necessary. Looking for reliable candidates who are good listeners.

What are you going to do

Personal Assistant required for disabled PhD student.

I am about to begin as a PhD student, journalist and activist. I have cerebral palsy and require help with all personal care and cooking and keeping my flat tidy. On top of this, I am looking for academic and physical support.

Literacy/Academic work: I'm a writer and publish in various outlets. I transcribe all my articles, essays and general correspondence. I therefore require someone with very good English for this part of the job.

Physical support: I also like to keep fit and this involves riding horses. I need help getting on and off the horse and someone who is confident with horses would be helpful. I also require help with basic stretching and manual handling for various pieces of gym equipment in my flat.

If you consider yourself a sporty person, but aren't so confident with the academic side of things, (or vice versa) that's not a problem! I will consider all applications and I'm mainly looking for someone who is a fast learner, reliable and a good listener. Please refer to this in your message.

No previous experience with support work is required. I provide full training and will assume no prior knowledge of PA work. Being a good listener and being reliable is absolutely essential.

I can offer excellent flexibility with working hours. You will be working roughly 15-25 hours per week depending on what I need/what you can do. At the moment, I am likely to require two 9-5pms and one or two 5-9pms.

Interviews held over Skype- please refer to above job description in your message response

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience as a personal assistant. I am involved in many charities and do a lot of volunteer work. I always like to be busy- and try to spend as much time out and about as possible. Through this role, you may meet lots of interesting people and have the chance to be involved in some of the activism work I do.

This opportunity would suit a student or someone who already works part time. All applications will be considered equally.
