About The Role

We are recruiting for a Senior National Planning Manager to join our central team and be responsible for Transport Planning across Store, Primary and Manufacturing operations.

Joining a growing and energetic organisation a key part of the role in the first year will be to lead a full assessment of our current systems and capability in the area of transport planning, tasked specifically with identifying the actions and investment needed to build a central control tower.

In addition to this you will be fully accountable for developing the transport end to end planning strategy, focussing on reducing transport movements across the network and delivering against both cost and service targets to maintain the highest levels of availability for our customers.

Your transport network will consist of 7 Regional DCs, 1National DC, 18 Manufacturing sites, 500+stores, 3 Consolidation Centres and a growing numbers of suppliers in Primary.

As National Transport Planning Manager, you will be responsible for::

  • Leading the transport planning teams and providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Building capability and succession within the Transport and planning teams.
  • Developing and standardising ways of working within the Transport and planning operations.
  • Supporting the growth of Morrisons Primary by working with third party hauliers and suppliers to find cost-effective transport solutions.
  • Determining and regularly reviewing the size and make-up of the national HGV fleet across the network to ensure maximum performance of all vehicles and resources.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and engagement within transport and working with colleagues to identify ways to improve service.
  • Create a strong customer service culture across Transport to ensure all plans are developed to enable products to be delivered to store on time and in full, driving full availability for customers in line with plan.
About You

In order to be successful within this role, the below experience/skills are essential:

  • Expert knowledge of Transport systems, ideally Paragon, GTS, Microlise and Isotrak.
  • Several years’ experience in a similar role, with relatable size and scaleability in terms of transport network.
  • Proven track record of transport planning across a complex, multi-site operation
  • Experience of working with and making sense of a variety of KPIs to drive performance
  • A strong track record of delivering excellent results through an engaged team
  • In depth knowledge of the Transport industry and general haulage environment
  • Strong commercial awareness and expertise
