Financial Restructuring Analyst - Invetstment Bank

Flynn and Chase is looking for a Financial Restructuring Analyst - Invetstment Bank

Job description

Acting on behalf of an international mid-market investment banking client, I am seeking a Restructuring Analyst to join an established London-based Capital Advisory practice. Sustained mandate growth has created the requirement for an additional high-calibre Analyst.

The Opportunity

The firm forms part of a Japanese banking group with more than a century of operating history, providing the London team with substantial institutional backing alongside genuine cross-border capability — in excess of 750 professionals operating from approximately two dozen offices across Europe, North America and Asia.

The debt advisory and restructuring practice completed roughly twenty debt and restructuring transactions in its most recent financial year and has arranged more than €120 billion of capital over the past five years. Recent engagements span a multi-billion dollar recapitalisation effected via a UK Restructuring Plan, representation of an ad hoc noteholder group on a €340 million capital structure, and a series of creditor-side mandates across complex European industrial credits. Analysts therefore gain exposure to both company-side and creditor-side situations rather than a single perspective.

The team operates a deliberately flat structure led by managing directors with two decades or more of balance-sheet experience, within a UK mid-market debt franchise that recorded in excess of sixty transactions in a single recent quarter. In practice, this translates into substantive analytical and modelling responsibility from an early stage.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Assist in the execution of corporate restructuring mandates from mandate award through to completion
  • Construct detailed financial models and valuation analyses, and prepare client-facing materials
  • Draft briefing notes and undertake company and sector research
  • Interpret and consolidate data to form a coherent view of a business or its wider market
  • Provide analytical and research support throughout live transaction processes
  • Maintain clear communication with the wider team on progress and workstreams
  • Begin to develop a professional network across legal, accounting, advisory and fund communities
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the M&A advisory teams

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong academic credentials
  • Presently operating at Analyst level within an investment bank or asset management institution
  • Demonstrable involvement in the execution of corporate restructuring transactions
  • Advanced quantitative capability, including ownership of financial models
  • Sound commercial judgement and awareness of the wider market environment

Remuneration and Benefits

  • Structured on-the-job training and development
  • Team-based hybrid working arrangements
  • Collaborative culture with a flat structure and regular senior stakeholder exposure
  • Membership of international affinity groups
  • Generous pension provision and comprehensive private medical cover
