Operational Risk Analyst - Second Line of Defence

Location: London

Salary: £50,000–£65,000 basic

We are partnering with a regulated financial services organisation looking to appoint a Operational Risk Analyst to the Risk Team.


This role would suit someone with a strong understanding of operational risk principles, risk and control frameworks, and the Three Lines of Defence model. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to identify, assess and monitor operational risks while supporting the continued development of the organisation’s risk management framework.


Key responsibilities

  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of the operational risk management framework.
  • Partner with business areas to identify, assess and manage operational risks and controls.
  • Facilitate and challenge Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs).
  • Support the recording, investigation and monitoring of operational risk events, issues and remediation actions.
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
  • Review the design and effectiveness of controls, identifying gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide constructive challenge to the first line while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Produce clear risk reporting and management information for senior stakeholders and governance committees.
  • Support operational risk training and promote a strong risk and control culture across the organisation.
  • Assist with emerging risk assessments, scenario analysis and wider operational risk initiatives.


Experience required

  • Five or more years’ experience within operational risk, enterprise risk, compliance, internal audit or another relevant control function.
  • Experience working within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Solid understanding of operational risk concepts and risk and control frameworks.
  • Good knowledge of the Three Lines of Defence model.
  • Experience with RCSAs, risk events, control assessments, KRIs and remediation tracking.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to engage and challenge stakeholders effectively.
  • Able to produce clear, concise risk reporting and documentation.


Please note that this role requires four days per week in the London office and visa sponsorship cannot be provided.
