Job summaryOnly candidates who are willing to complete the BSc (Hons) Dietetics Degree Apprenticeship at Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) will be considered for this role.
Ever wanted to be a Dietitian but not able or willing to return to full time education? This exciting role will give you the opportunity to do just that.
You will work, as a Band 4 Assistant Dietitian Practitioner, alongside other members of the Nutrition & Dietetic Team based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital to support individuals that are malnourished and require oral nutrition support whilst completing a 3 year apprenticeship course in Dietetics at SHU. On successful completion of this course you will become Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) registered and be able to work as a Dietitian.
Under the supervision of a dietitian the successful candidate will assess and advise adult inpatients requiring nutrition support and you will be supported to meet the required competencies.
If you are currently working in an assistant role within an NHS hospital environment, have a Foundation degree (or the equivalent), and ideally some experience of working with adults who are malnourished and require nutrition support this might be the role for you.
Main duties of the job
To provide nutrition & dietetic services under the direct supervision of a Dietitian to adults requiring nutrition support in hospital.

To communicate complex nutritional information to adults, carers and staff where there may be barriers to communication and understanding.5. To organise dietetic assessment, treatment and support for individuals in hospital and community including delivery of samples of oral nutritional supplements, arranging appointments or visits and liaison with other agencies.
