Our Private Client team is recognised for delivering practical, tailored advice across wills, probate, estate administration, trusts and lasting powers of attorney.


We are seeking a proactive and organised Private Client Paralegal to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their career within a supportive and highly regarded law firm, working closely with experienced solicitors and partners on a broad range of private client matters.


The Role

As a Private Client Paralegal, you will provide comprehensive support to the Private Client team, assisting with the management of client matters from instruction through to completion. You will gain exposure to a varied caseload and have the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge while delivering an exceptional client experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting solicitors with the administration of estates.
  • Preparing applications for Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration.
  • Drafting legal documents, including Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection applications under supervision.
  • Preparing inheritance tax forms (IHT205 and IHT400) and assisting with estate accounts.
  • Liaising with executors, beneficiaries, financial institutions, HMRC, the Probate Registry and other third parties.
  • Undertaking legal research and preparing correspondence.
  • Carrying out Anti-Money Laundering (AML), client due diligence and identity verification checks.
  • Opening new client files and maintaining accurate case records.
  • Managing diaries, arranging client meetings and preparing meeting documentation.
  • Drafting attendance notes and updating the firm's case management system.
  • Assisting with billing, file management and general departmental administration.
  • Delivering a high standard of client care at all times.


Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 12 months' experience within a Private Client department.
  • Experience assisting with probate and estate administration matters.
  • A good understanding of Wills, Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney and private client procedures.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • A professional, compassionate and client-focused approach.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and legal case management systems.
  • A proactive attitude and a genuine desire to develop a career in Private Client law.

Desirable

  • A Law degree, GDL, LPC or current SQE studies.
  • Experience preparing inheritance tax documentation.
  • Previous experience working directly with private clients.
  • Experience within a boutique or high-quality private client practice.
