Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Oasis Academy Arena

About the Role

Oasis Academy Arena is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and caring Apprentice Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and supportive academy community. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to begin a rewarding career in education while gaining valuable hands on experience and working towards a nationally recognised Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, you will help pupils access learning, develop confidence and independence, and make positive progress both academically and personally. You will play an important role in supporting the wellbeing and achievement of all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Apprenticeship Details

  • Apprenticeship Level: Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship
  • Duration: 16-month apprenticeship programme
  • Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term Time Plus INSET Days)
  • Salary: Apprentice salary dependent on age
  • Location: Albert Rd, London SE25 4QL
  • Disclosure Level: Enhanced DBS Check Required

Key Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant Apprentice, you will:
  • Support teaching and learning activities for individuals, small groups, and whole classes.
  • Assist pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to access learning opportunities.
  • Help raise pupil attainment and encourage independence.
  • Promote children's emotional, social, and physical wellbeing.
  • Foster an inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging educational activities.
  • Work under the direction of class teachers, SEND Coordinators, and line managers.
  • Complete apprenticeship training, coursework, and assessments.
  • Support pupils with personal care requirements where necessary.

Qualifications

Essential

Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at *Grades 9-4 (A-C)**, including:
  • English Language
  • Mathematics

Training and Development

The successful candidate will undertake the Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship Standard with a recognised apprenticeship training provider.

The apprenticeship programme includes training in:
  • Child and adolescent development.
  • Literacy, numeracy, and ICT support.
  • Supporting children with SEND.
  • Safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Confidentiality and data protection legislation.
  • Meeting individual learning needs.
  • Supporting pupil wellbeing and positive behaviour.

Apprentices Will Receive
  • Initial pre-placement training.
  • Ongoing mentoring and support.
  • Dedicated apprenticeship guidance throughout the programme.
  • Opportunities to develop practical skills through classroom experience.
