Oasis Academy Arena is seeking an enthusiastic, committed and ambitious individual to join our team as a Specialist Teaching Assistant Apprentice (Level 5) with HLTA.This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential whilst gaining a nationally recognised Level 5 Specialist Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship qualification. The role combines specialist SEND support with Higher Level Teaching Assistant responsibilities, providing a unique pathway for career progression in education.
Please note; This position requires you to have completed a level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. If you do not hold a level 3, you will not be considered for the role.

Monday to Friday
37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term Time Plus Insets)

Duties and Responsibilities
- Support pupils in lessons, interventions and enrichment activities.
- Assist with planning, delivering and evaluating learning activities for individuals, small groups and whole classes.
- Deliver planned learning activities under the guidance of teachers.
- Adapt resources and materials to meet individual pupil needs.
- Promote pupil engagement, confidence and independence.
- Contribute to assessment activities and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Support pupils to access the full curriculum and participate in academy life.
- Organise and maintain learning resources and classroom environments.
- Specialist SEND Support
HLTA Responsibilities
• Plan and deliver learning activities within agreed systems of supervision.
• Lead learning with individuals, groups or whole classes where appropriate.
• Cover classes in the short-term absence of teaching staff.
• Assess, monitor and record pupil progress.
• Contribute to curriculum delivery and lesson preparation.
Leadership and Team Support
• Support the development of Teaching Assistants through mentoring and guidance.
• Share best practice and contribute to staff development activities.
• Liaise effectively with teachers, support staff, pastoral teams and leaders.
Safeguarding and Student Welfare
• Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children and young people.
• Always follow academy safeguarding and child protection procedures.
• Report concerns promptly through the appropriate channels.
Professional Responsibilities
• Comply with all academy policies and procedures.
• Support equality, diversity and inclusion.
• Participate fully in professional development opportunities, apprenticeship learning and appraisal processes.
Key Skills and Attributes
• Knowledge of SEND and inclusive practice.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child protection requirements.
• Ability to support pupils with a range of additional needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Ability to motivate and support pupils and colleagues.
Education and Qualifications
Maths and English at GCSE level A-C (4-9) or functional skills equivalent
Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification / relevant experience.
