Job description
Property Maintenance Assistant
Location: South West London (covering a portfolio of properties across London)
Salary: £35,000–£45,000 DOE
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00am–6:00pm
Full Driving Licence required
Looking for a hands-on, people-focused role with real stability and no two days the same?
We're recruiting on behalf of a growing residential property business managing a large portfolio of HMO and shared living accommodation, primarily across South West London. Due to continued growth, they're looking for a Property Maintenance Assistant to join their close-knit team.
This role is as much about people as it is about practical work. You'll be visiting residents in their homes, so being genuinely helpful, personable, and easy to deal with matters just as much as being handy with tools.
If you're conscientious, take pride in doing a job properly, and enjoy being out and about rather than desk-bound, this could be a great fit, whether you're already working in maintenance, or you're coming from a customer-facing role like retail, hospitality, or facilities and want something more hands-on.
Full training and support will be given to the right person. Previous maintenance experience is a bonus, not essential, attitude and reliability matter more.
The role
You'll typically visit several properties throughout the day, with jobs organised and scheduled in advance, including:
- General property maintenance and basic repairs.
- Simple plumbing, carpentry and decorating tasks.
- Patch repairs, silicone work and room refreshes between tenancies.
- Replacing fixtures and fittings, locks, door handles, shower heads, toilet seats, blinds, furniture and light fittings.
- Reporting issues clearly with photos and videos via the company's maintenance system.
- Being the friendly, professional face of the business when visiting residents, landlords and contractors.
- Flagging anything that needs a specialist, and communicating clearly with the Property Management team.
About you
- Personable, reliable and genuinely enjoy helping people.
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own day across multiple locations.
- Practical and happy to get stuck into hands-on tasks.
- Good communication skills and a professional manner, especially important as you'll be in people's homes.
- Well organised, punctual, and able to manage your time across a scheduled workload.
- A full UK driving licence.
Some experience in maintenance, a trade, facilities, or a hands-on customer-facing role is helpful but not required, we're just as interested in the right attitude as a long CV.
What's on offer
- £35,000–£45,000 salary, depending on experience.
- Monday to Friday, 9am–6pm, no weekend working.
- 20 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
- Company vehicle provided during working hours.
- Fuel allowance.
- Company mobile phone.
- Structured daily workload, planned in advance.
- Full training and ongoing support from experienced property professionals.
- A stable, long-term role with a growing business.
If you're someone who takes pride in doing things properly, enjoys being around people, and wants a steady role where your effort is genuinely valued, we'd love to hear from you.
