Job description

Day Care Host
Could you open your home and your heart to four older people?
Do you have a welcoming home, a kind nature and a couple of weekdays available? Perhaps you've always thought about volunteering with older people but need to earn an income too.
The Filo Project could be the perfect opportunity.
Our Hosts welcome a small group of up to four older people living with dementia into their own home and create a warm, stimulating and sociable day built around friendship, companionship and meaningful connection.
This isn't traditional day care. You'll provide enjoyable activities, good food and, most importantly, a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued, respected and included.
You don't need to be a qualified carer or have years of experience. What matters most is who you are. We're looking for compassionate, understanding and reliable people who genuinely enjoy spending time with others.
You could be a great Filo Host if you:
Enjoy people and love a good conversation
Are patient, empathetic and able to read people well
Recognise and value that everyone is unique
Are curious, open-minded and willing to learn from others
Are positive, proactive and creative
Enjoy cooking and spending time in your local community
Want your work to have a genuine purpose
What you'll do
You'll host your group in your own home for 12 days a week, usually 9am5pm. You'll collect members of your group from their homes, provide a home-cooked hot lunch, create enjoyable activities and provide a day where friendship and connection can flourish.
What you'll need and are essential
An accessible, comfortable home with minimal steps and a downstairs toilet
A five-door car with three full rear seats and seatbelts
A full driving licence
Availability for up to two full weekdays each week
What we offer
£110 per day, plus lunch and mileage allowances
6 weeks' paid holiday (pro rata)
Pension
Full training and ongoing support
Enhanced DBS check
Host wellbeing programme
If you want to do work that creates joy through human connection, we'd love to hear from you.
