Data Quality & Research Analyst

Job description

UTM Consultants are seeking a detail-oriented Data Quality & Research Analyst for a temporary assignment supporting a critical data normalisation programme across approximately 30 European markets.

This role is well suited to someone with experience in research, data validation, GIS, energy intelligence, planning data or structured data quality assurance.

Key Objective

Review and validate AI-generated wind farm project records, ensuring they are accurate, consistent and ready for ingestion into our intelligence platform.

The focus is on research and quality assurance rather than software development, data science or data engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Data Validation & Quality Assurance

• Review AI-normalised wind farm project records for accuracy and completeness.

• Validate project names and development phases against reliable public sources.

• Check that related developments are clustered correctly.

• Identify duplicate, superseded or obsolete records.

• Flag records that require further investigation.

Research

• Validate project information using planning portals, government energy registries, developer websites, industry publications, mapping tools and GIS sources.

• Investigate ambiguous, incomplete or conflicting information.

• Document findings clearly and maintain robust audit trails.

Data Management

• Apply agreed quality-review classifications consistently.

• Maintain consistent naming conventions across records.

• Escalate complex cases to the Product and Research team.

Process Improvement

• Provide feedback on recurring data-quality issues.

• Identify opportunities to improve AI-assisted review workflows.

• Contribute to QA documentation and procedures.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Excellent attention to detail and a consistent approach to quality.

• Strong desk-based research skills.

• Confidence working with spreadsheets and structured datasets.

• Ability to interpret and reconcile information from multiple sources.

• Clear written communication and documentation skills.

• Ability to work independently and follow defined processes reliably.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Experience with renewable energy or wind projects, planning applications, GIS data, environmental datasets, or data cleansing and validation.

• Familiarity with Excel, Google Sheets, Airtable, GIS platforms or data-quality tools.

• Additional European language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.

Duration: 3–6 months

Location: Norwich (Hybrid) or remote within the UK

By the end of the assignment, the analyst will have:

• Reviewed and validated project master lists across approximately 30 European markets.

• Reduced the backlog of records awaiting human review.

• Improved the consistency and reliability of project normalisation.

• Supported the timely expansion of the Onshore Wind Intelligence Platform.
