Trade Control Analyst – Energy Trading

International Energy Trading Firm

Salary: £55,000–£65,000 + bonus

Location: London – Hybrid


We are supporting a leading international energy trading business in the search for a Trade Control Analyst to join their Operations function in London. This is a great opportunity for a junior to early-career professional looking to build a career within Energy Trading. The role sits close to the trading activity, working alongside Trading and Operations teams and gaining broad exposure to the processes that support global energy markets.


We are particularly interested in candidates from Trade Control, Middle Office, Back Office or Energy Operations backgrounds. Experience within Gas, Power or Emissions would be beneficial, alongside a good understanding of trade operations and the wider trade lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor trade activity and perform day-to-day operational controls
  • Investigate trade discrepancies, exceptions and operational issues
  • Support trade amendments and lifecycle events
  • Work closely with Trading and Operations teams to resolve issues
  • Identify and escalate potential operational risks
  • Ensure processes are followed and issues are taken through to resolution
  • Support improvements to operational processes and controls
  • Work with trade data and operational systems
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy across daily activities


Required Experience

  • Experience within Trade Control, Middle Office, Back Office or Operations
  • Exposure to Energy Markets is highly beneficial
  • Understanding of the trade lifecycle and how transactions move from booking through to settlement
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive approach to investigating and resolving issues
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Good Excel skills would be beneficial
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills


Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience within an energy trading or commodity trading environment
  • Exposure to Gas, Power or Emissions markets
  • Experience working with trade data, reconciliations or operational controls
  • Familiarity with energy trading systems
  • An interest in developing a career within Energy Trading Operations
