Paralegal @ Property business

Heriot Brown In-House Legal Recruitment is looking for a Paralegal @ Property business

Job description

We are working with a growing residential property business seeking an organised and commercially minded Paralegal to join its in-house legal team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their commercial legal experience within a fast-paced, operationally focused organisation. Reporting to the Legal Counsel, you will provide contract and legal administration support, working closely with Procurement, Operations, Finance, Marketing and other teams across the business.

The role

You will help ensure that supplier contracts and other commercial documents are reviewed, approved, executed and stored through consistent and well-controlled processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and negotiating lower-risk and lower-value supplier contracts, statements of work, order forms, non-disclosure agreements and engagement letters using approved templates and guidance.
  • Identifying potential legal, commercial and operational risks and escalating complex, high-value or non-standard matters to the Legal Counsel.
  • Maintaining accurate records of contract reviews, approvals, renewals and outstanding actions.
  • Coordinating the execution of documents electronically and, where required, in hard copy.
  • Working with Procurement and internal stakeholders to monitor contract renewal dates, obligations and approvals.
  • Ensuring contracts are correctly executed, filed and maintained within the contract database.
  • Supporting document version control and contract governance processes.
  • Helping improve contract-management processes to increase efficiency and consistency.
  • Supporting the Legal Counsel with day-to-day legal matters, regulatory research and ad hoc projects.
  • Managing the legal team inbox and accurately recording incoming and completed work.
  • Assisting with legal record keeping, compliance administration and audit trails.
  • Providing company secretarial support when required.

About you

You will be highly organised, comfortable managing a busy workload and able to follow matters through to completion without losing sight of the detail.

You should have:

  • Previous experience in a paralegal, legal operations, contracts or commercial administration role.
  • Experience reviewing or administering commercial contracts, supplier agreements or similar documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies, missing information and unusual contractual terms.
  • The ability to manage high-volume, process-driven work accurately.
  • Good prioritisation skills and experience maintaining trackers and following up outstanding actions.
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to build positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • A practical, professional and solutions-focused approach.

A law degree, paralegal qualification or equivalent legal training would be advantageous but is not essential. Experience within an in-house legal team, property, Build to Rent, facilities management or another service-led organisation would also be beneficial.

Experience using a contract or document-management system would be welcomed.

Benefits

The organisation offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Private healthcare from the start of employment.
  • Life assurance and critical illness cover following 12 months’ service.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption pay, subject to eligibility.
  • Access to a wide range of discounts, rewards and wellbeing benefits.
  • Season-ticket loans following completion of probation.
  • Support towards eye tests and glasses.

If you are an organised and detail-focused legal professional looking to develop within a growing in-house environment, we would be pleased to hear from you.
