In addition to standard insurance offerings, the company provides white-labelled programmes, underwriting capacity, and specialist support. All covers are underwritten by Acasta European Insurance Company Ltd, which is regulated by the FSC and is a member of the FSCS and FOS.


Role Description

The Compliance Officer/Manager is a full-time role responsible for overseeing regulatory and compliance frameworks across Acasta Europe Ltd's operations. This hybrid position is based in Cheadle Hulme, with the option to work from home for part of the week. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring regulatory changes, reviewing policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to insurance and financial services regulations, and conducting compliance audits and risk assessments. The role involves drafting and maintaining compliance documentation, delivering staff training, and advising senior management on compliance matters and remedial actions. The Compliance Officer/Manager will collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including regulators and partners, to promote a strong culture of compliance and ethical conduct.


Key Accountabilities

  • Regulatory compliance administration - ensure compliance activities, attestations, declarations and governance records are completed accurately and within required timescales.
  • Compliance monitoring - support the delivery of the Compliance Monitoring Plan through reviews, reporting and follow-up of actions.
  • Governance and reporting - produce accurate management information and reports for governance committees and senior management.
  • Due diligence management - coordinate broker onboarding and annual due diligence processes, ensuring appropriate documentation is obtained, reviewed and monitored.
  • Complaints oversight - manage Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) complaint administration, investigations, complaints inbox management, record keeping and outcome reviews.
  • Policy and procedural governance - maintain, review and develop policies and procedures to ensure they remain current and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory support - support horizon scanning, sanctions compliance, conduct monitoring and wider regulatory initiatives across the business.
  • Continuous improvement - identify opportunities to improve compliance processes, controls, reporting and governance arrangements.


Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Governance

  • Coordinate annual compliance attestations.
  • Coordinate Modern Slavery questionnaires and attestations.
  • Manage Data Retention declarations.
  • Maintain compliance registers and governance trackers.
  • Support contract management activities including issuing TOBAs and contractual addendums.
  • Upload executed agreements to SharePoint and monitor completion.
  • Escalate outstanding contractual documentation where required.


Compliance Monitoring

  • Conduct compliance monitoring reviews including sanctions monitoring and other assigned thematic reviews.
  • Complete root cause analysis following monitoring activities and complaints.
  • Record findings, actions and recommendations within Protecht.
  • Follow up outstanding actions to ensure completion within agreed timescales.


Risk and Governance Support

  • Maintain compliance-related agent risk register actions.
  • Chase outstanding actions and updates from action owners.
  • Record new actions arising from reports and governance meetings.
  • Support production of governance reports including
  • ARC reports and Consumer Duty reporting.


Due Diligence

  • Coordinate broker due diligence onboarding processes.
  • Issue due diligence application packs following instruction.
  • Review submitted documentation for completeness.
  • Chase outstanding information where required.
  • Complete due diligence reports.
  • Record and monitor resulting actions within Protecht.
  • Maintain onboarding DD logs for audit trail purposes.


Complaints Oversight

  • Manage allocated Financial Ombudsman Service complaint cases and complaints inbox for the team.
  • Review complaint management information and identify emerging trends.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on FOS complaints and provide feedback to third parties on lessons learnt.


Conduct and Regulatory Monitoring

  • Monitor submission of Conduct Bordereaux.
  • Chase outstanding submissions and escalations.
  • Liaise with stakeholders regarding outstanding regulatory information.
  • Maintain issue trackers relating to conduct monitoring activities.


Policies and Procedures

  • Review and update existing policies in accordance with regulatory requirements and business changes.
  • Coordinate policy review schedules.


Regulatory Support

  • Undertake horizon scanning activities.
  • Support sanctions queries and sanctions checking where required.


General Compliance Support

  • Provide cover for shared compliance activities during periods of absence.
  • Support ad hoc compliance projects and initiatives.
  • Assist the Head of Compliance with additional regulatory and governance activities as required.


General

  • Ensure that your own training is completed as required by the business.
  • Ensure that action points allocated to you are completed within agreed deadlines.


Authority

  • Maintain compliance records, trackers and governance documentation.
  • Request compliance information and supporting evidence from stakeholders.
  • Challenge incomplete or inaccurate information and escalate where appropriate.
  • Produce compliance reports and management information.
  • Recommend improvements to compliance processes and controls.
  • Escalate regulatory concerns to the Head of Compliance where appropriate.


Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of insurance, financial services, and regulatory frameworks, including familiarity with FSC, FSCS, and FOS requirements.
  • Previous experience in Compliance as a Compliance Officer or Manager level for a minimum of 2 years within an insurance firm.
  • Experience in compliance management, risk assessment, policy development, and internal audit within an insurance or financial services environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical processes.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, train staft, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency with office and compliance-related software tools, and strong organisational skills for managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in compliance, risk management, or insurance (e.g., ICA, CI) are highly beneficial.
  • Prior experience in hybrid working environments and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
