Trading Analyst (Sustainability / Biofuels)

London, UK | Hybrid | Up to £80,000 + Bonus + Benefits

An established international energy trading business is looking to hire a Trading Analyst to join its expanding Biofuels division in London.

This position offers the opportunity to develop specialist expertise in biofuels sustainability, working closely with trading, operations and commercial teams across an international business.

Unlike a traditional Trading Analyst position, this role focuses primarily on the sustainability requirements associated with physical biofuels trading, including mass balance accounting, certification, documentation, feedstock traceability and regulatory compliance.

The business is open to candidates at different levels of experience, including junior professionals with relevant sustainability exposure and a genuine interest in developing their careers within biofuels.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage sustainability mass balance accounting across biofuels transactions, ensuring accurate tracking and reconciliation of sustainable feedstocks and products.

• Collect, review and maintain sustainability documentation for inbound and outbound transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable certification schemes and regulatory requirements.

• Coordinate certification activities, support sustainability audits and work with suppliers, counterparties and internal trading teams to ensure feedstock traceability.

• Monitor regulatory developments and support the implementation of sustainability requirements, processes and digital reporting systems.

• Work closely with Trading, Operations, Logistics, Biorefineries and Back Office teams on sustainability-related matters.

• Support sustainability projects and contribute to ad hoc market analysis, reporting and commercial activities.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous exposure to biofuels, renewable fuels, sustainability, certification or related compliance activities.

• Understanding of sustainability requirements associated with biofuels trading, ideally including mass balance accounting, certification or feedstock traceability.

• Familiarity with HVO, FAME or related biofuels and feedstocks would be advantageous.

• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills. Power BI or other reporting tools would be beneficial.

• A university degree in a quantitative discipline such as Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or IT.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail.

• A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within biofuels sustainability.

Salary & Benefits

• Base salary up to £80,000, depending on experience.
