Internship as an Art Gallery Assistant in London

A highly prestigious art gallery are seeking a proactive and articulate gallery assistant to ensure the smooth running of the gallery space. It is a very good learning experience for anyone starting out, as you will get into the real stuff from day one and there is an opportunity to progress. This is a part time position on a freelance basis.

1 - 10 hours per week
Between £20.00 and £100.00 Per Week

What are you going to do:

Long and Ryle is a contemporary art space located in the heart of London's Pimlico. Opened in 1988, the gallery serves as a creative platform for both established and emerging artists working across a range of media.

We have a fun and interesting work environment and opportunities to learn and grow for dedicated interns. This position will afford you hands on experience in all aspects of managing a gallery and especially in the sales department. The internship is geared towards students and graduates interested in gaining firsthand gallery experience.

Tasks include:

  • Supporting the Gallery Manager and Director with general gallery duties, front of house, mail outs, private views and exhibitions
  • Assisting with art fairs - Next one to be The London Art Fair in January 2019.
  • Greeting and providing information to visitors about current exhibitions and all aspects of the gallery
  • Supervising the gallery space, ensuring they are presented to the highest standards at all times
  • Assisting with the development, installation and delivery of exhibitions and events
