We're looking for an experienced Buying Manager - Tropical Fruit to join our trading team at our Support centre in Bradford.
A £22M per annum category this role offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to develop and deliver Own Brand and Direct Sourcing plans across this incredibly important category. The role also encompasses working with one of Morrisons own Manufacturing sites.
The role will include pro-active development of direct growers (farmers) to deliver the wider Fruit team strategy.
Strong stakeholder management skills are essential to ensure buy in of strategy across the business. Strong external presentation skills will also be required as you will be an international ambassador for the business.
In the role you’ll be delivering the customer offer through creating and delivering a market leading range driving best price and quality across all available channels for your category. You’ll be expected to drive profitable growth for the business and contribute to the business managing it’s costs.
You’ll be responsible for things like this;
Building and delivering a category plan
Developing and delivering a annual sourcing plan
Working with insight, marketing and suppliers to build a compelling range
Representing the business commercially around the world.. Finding, developing and managing new suppliers
Operating your category in full compliance with the Grocery Suppliers Code of Practice (GSCOP)
Delivering our supplier promises (12 point charter) through continuously improving Supplier relationships and engagement with detailed supplier knowledge and regular factory / facility visits
You’ll need skills and experience like this;
An understanding of the global supply chain, supply chain optimisation, managing currency and commodity as an element of your cost base and driving buy for less initiatives
An understanding of promotional mechanics as well as store operations and the ability to derive value
A track record of negotiating with suppliers
The ability to create, plan, execute and deliver your category plans and create a compelling longer term vision for specified category(s) (up to 3 years).
Product Knowledge within Fresh Produce would be desirable
