We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 100 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby. We provide a range inpatient and community services to 2m people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire. We also provide additional specialist services to other parts of Northern England.

If so then the Temporary Staffing Service has an exciting opportunity for Bank Health Care Assistants to work within Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust Inpatient Units at Cross Lane Hosptal in Scarborough and Springwood Unit at Malton Hospital.

We wish to recruit individuals with experience in a care setting, who have experience of supporting service users during challenging times, and who are flexible, enthusiastic and have a positive caring attitude towards our client group.

Successful applicants will be responsible for supporting nursing staff in meeting the needs of services users, working alongside our established workforce delivering all aspects of care to promote choice and client independence. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be calm, confident and resilient in your approach. You will need to be able to form therapeutic relationships with people with learning disabilities and mental health needs.

This is an exciting opportunity working as and when required for a busy mental health and learning disability Trust. Bank workers are not regular employees and have no entitlement to guaranteed or continuous employment.

Typical basic hourly rates for fully compliant bank workers including WTR uplift are £9.76 for HCAs (£9.84 upon completion of training).  Enhancements of 30% are applicable to nights and Saturdays and 60% are applicable to Sundays and Bank Holidays. NI & PAYE deductions will apply.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a mandatory training programme within the first 8 weeks of commencement which will provide all new recruits with the necessary skills to work effectively and safely within our unique services. This is approximately 8 days of training for HCAs, this is not 8 consecutive days. It is therefore essential that applicants ensure that they can commit to this prior to applying.
