In this role you will have a unique opportunity to support people to achieve their goals and move on along their care pathway to more independent living,while developing your own specialist skills alongside training courses tailored to your personal development.
In this role your main focus would be to provide safe, sound and supportive care to the people you support. You will have working relationships with the nursing and multi-disciplinary teams, and will play an important role in the lives of the people you support, as well astheir families or loved ones.
The support and care you provide will be respectful, dignified and caring, following each individual's person-centred care plan to promote choice and independence. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to the leadership of the service, ensuring each individual is working to support people in the best way.

Based in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, Thornfield Grange is a specialist autism care home with nursing supporting up to nine people with autistic spectrum conditions, who are also living with a learning disability and complex needs.
Thornfield Grange is an impressive period property situated in the bustling market town of Bishop Auckland, surrounded by beautiful County Durham countryside. Thornfield Grange provides a structured, positive, empathic and low-arousal environment with good links to family and outside agencies. There are two good sized living areas, a well-stocked arts and crafts room and an internet café where people can Skype their family members and important others.
A holistic therapist attends Thornfield Grange on a weekly basis for anyone who requires therapeutic intervention. There is also a life skills kitchen where people are supported to make their own drinks and prepare food for visitors and themselves. Within the grounds there is an allotment, which is looked after by the people who use the service. Other outdoor activities are available and there is a large lawn with patio and seating areas for people and their visitors to enjoy.
