What’s the job?

The role of the SLC TG Vendor Management (VM) team has considerably changed in the last 9 months to meet the needs of the business. The function of the team includes contracting/supplier strategy, commercial risk management, vendor governance, performance reporting, contract compliance/assurance, and providing an accurate and robust repository of contract/vendor processes and documentation. The VM function will continue to mature over the next 2-3 years towards new Strategic Partner relationships currently being put in place. However, in the interim, as the volume of contracts and suppliers is currently peaking, the main objective for the team is to carefully plan and then execute that consolidation, but at the same time ensure suppliers continue to deliver beyond the base contractual commitments, and deliver value for money for SLC. The Vendor Lead (Graduate) will therefore support the lead Vendor Managers and category leads to manage on a day to day basis the delivery of a number of supplier relationship activities. We are looking for Graduates to bring innovation and new thinking to the team, as well as to create a forward pipeline of talent to grow into future VM roles. We will look to ensure everyone in the graduate cohort experiences all aspects of Vendor Management and has visibility of the types of career opportunities available within sourcing functions and in the broader Technology group. Key Responsibilities: Over the course of the two-year Graduate scheme, you will become proficient in the following areas: Supporting the Vendor Managers with directly managing supplier contracts, tracking performance, SLA/KPI measurements, governance requirements, negotiating changes required, dispute resolution Maintain overall control and reporting of Vendor governance performance, for example meeting trackers, artefacts, obligation management and exceptions, scorecards, KPIs, SLAs Support the creation of statements of work with suppliers and requests for procurements through Commercial Services, and help assure their commercial policy adherence Measuring vendor performance against contractual service delivery targets whilst assisting in agreeing and monitoring improvement plans with vendors. The generation of and improvement in vendor status analysis and reports Forecasting contract spend and managing budget against approved levels Designing and maintaining a common document repository for VM and supporting process operation eg periodic Vendor Segmentation, risk documentation, contract map, contract consolidation planning Supporting the production of the annual VM business plan and objectives Supporting the Vendor Managers to identify key stakeholders and support collaborative working across internal and external sourcing teams Contribute to continuous improvement and developing working best practices, for self and others within the Vendor Management and sourcing community. How do I apply? Knowledge, Skills and Experience Essential A degree in either a business-related subject, or a technical discipline An appreciation of, or a desire for knowledge of, UK business/contract law An aptitude for an eye for detail in written documents and data tables and extracting key information/trends Competent in using MS Office suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word Good communication skills, written, verbal and presentation skills gained through experience or academic achievements Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships evidenced by previous experience or academic achievements Strong organisational, administrative and planning skills evidenced in application Ability to manage and prioritise own work and deliver to strict deadline, evidenced through experience or academic achievements Collaboration skills demonstrated through previous experience or academic achievement Desirable Experience of working in an IT and/or legal environment Knowledge of advanced Excel functions, other database or application query experience Previous work-related experience/an understanding of behaviours and aptitude in the workplace gained through an internship or placement Working basic knowledge of MS Project
