ESOL TEACHING ENGLISH VOLUNTEER (to central Asian and Afghan refugees) in Feltham

The Afghanistan & Central Asian Association (ACAA) is a successful charity established in 2001 to support the integration of disadvantaged and vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers into mainstream British society through the provision of a wide range of services. We are seeking ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teaching volunteers (unpaid) to support our ESOL classes which are currently being held on Zoom video call. we would now like a volunteer to run in-person classes on a Monday and Thursday at the ACAA office in Feltham when we come out of the COVID-19 lockdown. The classes will have a maximum of 6 people. The ideal person will be encouraging, supportive, motivated, empathetic and understanding of their circumstances and their ability to learn language.

What are you going to do:

Volunteers will be required to help improve the English language, literacy, spelling, grammar and writing skills of Central Asian and Afghanistan refugees who have come to our organisation looking for support towards finding employment, community and socialisation. 

 

This volunteering opportunity would most likely suit someone who has previous experience as an ESOL teacher/tutor or a multilingual English Language student looking for a volunteering position. It would be advantageous for the volunteer to be able to speak a Central Asian language or one or more of the following languages: 

Farsi, Punjabi, Arabic, Persian.
