What are you going to do:
As an au pair in Germany you work 30 hours, either on 5 or 6 days a week. Most of the time you are taking care of children, either alone or with the help of a parent.
Typical tasks include:
- getting children ready for daycare or school
- picking up children from daycare or school
- preparing easy meals and snacks for them
- playing, draying, crafting, building and being silly
- going to the park or playground.
Some light household chores, like tidying up the kitchen, feeding pets or tidying up the children's rooms are usually expected as part of your typical work week.
An Au Pair in Germany gets the following benefits:
- Monthly pocket money of 280€
- Monthly grant of at least 50€ towards language courses
- Public transportation pass
- Health, Travel and accident insurance for the duration of your stay
- Your own room and usually also your own bathroom
- 1 to 2 free day(s) a week
- 2 days paid holiday per month
Requirements to apply:
- must be between 18 and 26 years old
- must have previous childcare experience, though this can be informal experience like taking care of siblings
- British, US or EU passport holders only
