Job description

Horizon Teacher are looking for a secondary qualified teacher to work in a PRU in Redbridge. This is a unique chance to make a significant impact on the lives of young learners and contribute to their educational and personal development. The classes at the school are a small mixed environment with a strong pool of support staff allowing maximum impact on each individual student. Key Responsibilities: Tailored Teaching: Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons catering to the diverse needs of students with special educational needs, ensuring every child reaches their full potential. Positive Learning Environment: Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes emotional well-being, personal growth, and academic achievement. Progress Monitoring: Monitor and assess student progress meticulously, maintaining accurate records and reports to inform further interventions and support strategies. Partnership Building: Foster positive relationships with parents, guardians, and external stakeholders, actively involving them in the educational journey of the students. Behaviour Management: Implement effective behaviour management techniques, de-escalation strategies, and positive reinforcement approaches to create a harmonious learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and significant experience in teaching students with special educational needs in a secondary school setting. Strong understanding of SEN requirements, inclusive teaching practices, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal development of young people with SEN. Familiarity with relevant policies, procedures, and legislations related to special education. Previous experience in a PRU or alternative provision setting is advantageous but not essential.
