Job description

This role combines entry level Planning with paraplanning and administration responsibilities to support good client outcomes and the firm’s growth objective.

Once authorised and appropriately Certificated you will work closely with a senior Planner to support them by providing less complex advice such as annual reviews, ISAs and pension top ups with a focus on good client outcomes, within an ethical and professional culture.

You will also support good client outcomes by providing paraplanning support both for the Planner, and across the wider team and as required, undertake administration activities such as new business processing, client onboarding, valuations, XPlan and dealing with general client queries.


This role enables you to develop your client relationship and commercial skills providing service and advice to clients working closely with our more senior Planners.


Working closely with a senior Planner with their oversight and support to develop your skills and apply your technical knowledge to be able to:

  • Build, maintain and continue to grow strong client relationships with professional conduct and integrity
  • Provide existing clients, with less complex wealth planning advice recommending suitable products/services to meet their needs/expectations to deliver a good outcome, adapting your approach for clients in vulnerable circumstances
  • Undertake client consultations and ongoing service reviews, ensuring all documentation of meetings are recorded and any actions taken within prescribed timescales, ensuring good client outcomes
  • Maintain a pro-active approach with clients for ongoing servicing of their financial needs, ensuring client service agreement is in place to specify and disclose level of service and costs
  • Working alongside the experienced Planner, support annual review for Drawdown clients and those clients in the ongoing advice service, ensuring good client outcomes
  • Undertake Paraplanning activity for the Planners on the team and in exceptional circumstances, provide support to the wider Paraplanning team. Paraplanning responsibilities include:
  • Undertake appropriate, accurate and relevant research, based on the information gathered by the Planner, known information for clients in the on-going advice service and existing products/services the client has, to enable a suitable solution to be recommended to meet the client’s needs and objectives with a good outcome
  • Undertake accurate calculations and cash-flow modelling where needed to support recommendations
  • Prepare suitability reports and letters for the Planners to provide their recommendation based on our knowledge of the client, their documented needs, objectives, risk profile, to support a good client outcome, adapting your approach for clients in vulnerable circumstances
  • Ensure that drafted suitability reports and other communications are clear, fair, and not misleading
  • Draft and co-ordinate technical documents and research for client presentation
  • When undertaking research or preparing suitability reports proactively identify areas of potential future advice and raise with the Planner for them to discuss with the client.
  • As required to support the Planners on the team, undertake Wealth Planning administration activities such as new business processing, client onboarding, valuations, XPlan and dealing with general client queries


Technical / Qualifications

  • Minimum RQF Level 4 qualified (CII or equivalent), commitment to achieve Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning and CII Chartered status (Level 6)
  • Continues to be assessed as Fit & Proper to execute their role under the Certification Regime
  • Following authorisation under the T&C Scheme, has been assessed as benchmark competent to provide wealth planning advice and service under the SMCR and T&C policies
  • Once authorised competent under the Wealth Planning Training & Competence Scheme, hold a current Statement of Professional Standing (SPS).
