Milk Education

SEN Teaching Assistant – ASD Specialist Primary School

Milk Education | Hillingdon | On-site

Milk Education is proud to be working with an outstanding ASD-specialist primary school in Hillingdon. We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a day-to-day, term-time basis, with strong potential to move into a long-term or permanent position for the right candidate.

About the School

This highly structured and supportive school is purpose-built for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Their approach prioritises communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and fostering confidence and independence. You’ll be joining a collaborative team including teachers, therapists, and experienced SEN practitioners, all committed to delivering exceptional support.

The Role

You will work with pupils across both 1:1 and small-group settings, supporting a range of ASD-related needs. The role requires someone confident in following structured teaching methods, adapting learning tasks, and using visual communication systems. Your support will help maintain routines, reduce anxiety, and promote a calm, predictable learning environment where pupils can flourish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with ASD across EYFS and primary age groups
  • Using structured tools such as visual timetables, now/next boards, social stories, and task breakdowns
  • Delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions focused on communication, regulation, and learning
  • Supporting sensory needs through movement breaks, sensory resources, and appropriate adjustments
  • Encouraging communication using PECS, Makaton, and visual support systems
  • Assisting with personal care and emotional wellbeing where required
  • Collaborating with teachers to adapt resources and create low-arousal learning spaces
  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils through transitions
  • Upholding safeguarding practices and prioritising pupil safety

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about SEN education and eager to grow within a specialist environment.
