Milk Education is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant in City Of London

Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant – Specialist SEND Provision

Milk Education | Tottenham

I’m recruiting for a highly respected specialist SEND provision in Tottenham that supports pupils with complex learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), communication difficulties, sensory processing needs, and physical or medical requirements. The school offers a structured, nurturing environment where pupils receive personalised support from a multidisciplinary team.

We’re looking for a dedicated, resilient, and genuinely caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a day-to-day, term-time basis, with the potential for the role to become long-term or permanent for the right candidate.

About the Role:

This is an extremely hands-on role supporting pupils with a wide range of needs. You’ll be working closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver individualised learning, communication programmes, and regulation strategies. The ideal candidate will be confident, patient, and able to follow consistent routines to help pupils feel safe, calm, and ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with complex SEN
  • Using visual communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, and visual timetables
  • Supporting sensory needs through structured breaks, personalised sensory tools, and environmental adjustments
  • Assisting with personal care, mobility support, or medical routines where required
  • Helping deliver adapted lessons focused on communication, social skills, life skills, literacy, and numeracy
  • Using positive behaviour support techniques to manage anxiety, transitions, and emotional regulation
  • Collaborating with teachers and therapists to follow structured programmes
  • Maintaining safeguarding, professionalism, and high standards of care at all times

This setting is ideal for someone who thrives in SEN environments where no two days look the same and where progress is measured in meaningful, real-life milestones.
