This role is open to all Police Staff / external candidates who meet the essential criteria of the person spec, regardless of current grade.

About The Team

The HR team sits within our Corporate Services Directorate and is responsible for all HR matters within the City of London Police. This role sits within the HR Services Team and will have a focus on Recruitment as well as other HR operational activity.

About The Role

We are recruiting for 3 Recruitment HR Officers to join our brilliant Recruitment Team.

You will be providing high quality, effective and timely recruitment services for both candidates and hiring teams. This includes liaising with candidates and supporting them through the recruitment process, ensuring each candidate receives a first-class candidate experience.

As HR Officer you will also provide support and advice to staff and managers on a wide range of policies and procedures. Candidates must have excellent customer service skills and be able to work across a variety of databases with a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be required to:

  • Assist the Hiring Managers with the recruitment and selection process for Police Officers and Police Staff by advertising roles, communicating with potential candidates, undertaking shortlisting and attending interviews if required.
  • To ensure that recruitment strategies and campaigns are devised, tailored and implemented effectively and efficiently according to an agreed timetable.
  • To ensure that the onboarding process of the new Police Officer and Staff runs smoothly.
  • To maintain the HR records systems (manual and computerised) ensuring all records are accurate and up to date, producing reports and management information from the HR database as required.
  • To advise Line Managers on terms and conditions and police regulations, as appropriate.

Requirements

For this role, we need you to have experience of:

  • Proven administrative experience in HR/Recruitment.
  • Proficient IT skills of Microsoft suite: MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience in interpreting and applying HR policies and procedures.
  • Experience in having worked with HR systems (Oracle and SAP would be advantageous)
  • Experience in customer support to clearly explain policies and procedures to staff at all levels, consistently maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
  • Experience in effectively prioritising a changing workload and meeting and negotiating deadlines.
  • Effective written communication skills to prepare letters and e-mails to all levels of staff and external agencies.

Selection Process

As part of the initial application process, you will be asked to evidence how your experience, skills, and knowledge demonstrate your ability to meet the person specification of the role.

The application and interview will be tested under Level 1 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework.

Applicants who fail to address the skills/knowledge/experience of the job description will not be considered.

Following shortlisting, successful candidates will be invited to attend a competency-based interview, to be held week commencing 12th January 2025.
