Brook Street Social Care is looking for a Housing Support Worker

Job description

About the Company

Are you passionate about helping young people build brighter futures? We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive Housing Support Worker to support young people aged 16–25, including care leavers, as they move towards independent living. This is not a care role—it’s hands‑on, practical and emotional support to help young people gain confidence, stability, and essential life skills.

About the Role

This is a full‑time onsite role with a shift pattern that includes weekends, early mornings, evenings, and bank holidays. Flexibility is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Support young people with developing independence skills, including budgeting, managing benefits, and navigating housing options.
  • Build trusting, non‑judgmental relationships, providing stability and encouragement.
  • Bring your own interests—music, art, sports, or other passions—to connect and engage.
  • Work with colleagues and external partners to ensure each young person gets the right support.
  • Manage a caseload and keep clear, accurate records.

Qualifications

  • Experience from youth work, housing, education, or similar roles (transferable skills welcome).

Required Skills

  • Someone who relates easily to young people, including those with experience of trauma, mental health challenges, or substance misuse.
  • Confidence engaging young people creatively and actively.
  • Strong communication and IT skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding or support planning is helpful but not essential.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience from youth work, housing, education, or similar roles (transferable skills welcome).

Pay range and compensation package

Salary: £27,176 per year

What you’ll get:

  • Up to 25 days’ annual leave.
  • Flexible benefits including healthcare, dental and retail discounts.
  • 4x life assurance and up to 10% pension contribution.
  • Funded professional development and apprenticeships.
  • Two paid volunteering days each year.
  • Supportive, inclusive team culture.
