St John's Church wishes to establish its historical and social position in the northern part of Bury St Edmunds by researching its construction and development, together with an investigation of the people who have used the church since its dedication in 1841. This is part of a Heritage Lottery Fund application which requires additional community access to the heritage of the church, and this research will produce narratives to be published in digital form. Links to wider social, local and church history from the Evangelical Revival onwards (especially the Catholic Revival and the development of Anglo-Catholicism) would be a valuable outcome. There should be an investigation of the best ways to make the research available to the wider community and build links and partnerships with other organisations.
