Business Improvement and Efficiency Intern in Cumbernauld, Glasgow, Scotland

This is an exciting Summer Internship opportunity to make a real difference in a dynamic and rapidly expanding SME which manufactures in the UK and distributes globally. Known in the industry for innovative, high demand and top quality educational furniture you will work closely with several divisional offices with an incredibly varied product portfolio enacting change and improvement daily.

40 hours per week
£15,000 Per Year

What are you going to do:

Spaceright is classified as a Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) company, selling 337633 products in 2017 with an average manufacturing AND delivery time of under 5 days. We are already ahead of budget this year with an expected growth of 15%. To achieve this Spaceright has a team of highly committed employees supported by an efficient Enterprise Resource planning (ERP) system, Microsoft Dynamics (Navision). We have invested in new software to revolutionise how the company's ERP system works enabling it to provide real time production information and to go paperless. The main goal of this internship will be the successful installation and roll out of this system.

As part of your internship and project you will be expected to assist with ad hoc duties and administration, we're a small team and everyone (from managing director to shop floor operator!) is expected to muck in and make the company a success. This project will be an excellent learning experience for you to understand how business works in a professional SME with the opportunity to put your ideas into action, seeing their practical benefit.

Responsibilities

  • Data Input and analysis relating to the ERP software
  • Creation and improvement of Bill Of Materials, Routings and Routing Links
  • Determine, assess and set up work centres, process and procedures
  • Analysis of business data to achieve strategic goals such as margin, stock and sales analysis
  • Projects to assist Operations and Production teams
  • Assisting in the completion of business contract bids (tenders)
  • Ad-Hoc projects and requirements needed to ensure the smoothing running of the business.

  • Flexibility to travel and work away from home at other company factories and offices for up to one week at a time on a monthly basis.
  • Microsoft Office skills (Excel and Word)
