Mental Health Motivational Speaker

Change lives + gain skills. Good Grief puts you at the centre of the mental health revolution, giving you the chance to educate and inspire young people in your community and make change across the country. When it comes to mental health, young people are most likely to listen to someone of a similar age - that's you! As a Good Grief Speaker, you’ll travel to schools and youth-centric communities to deliver engaging mental health presentations that young people will actually listen to. You'll have the opportunity - and the ability - to help lead the mental health movement by teaching young people that we all have mental health and how they can support each other and themselves.

1 - 5 hours per week
Between £25.00 and £100.00 Per Hour

What are you going to do:

As a Good Grief Speaker, you'll travel to schools and youth-centric communities to deliver engaging mental health presentations that young people will actually listen to. You'll have the opportunity - and the ability - to help lead the mental health movement by teaching young people that we all have mental health and how they can support each other and themselves.

Good Grief's staff developed the talk in collaboration with young leaders, and it's always delivered by two certified speakers. We'll train you to safely share personal stories, captivate an audience, and spark a revolution.

In the past year alone we have delivered talks 200 talks across the UK and we want to do more!

Who can apply to become a Good Grief Speaker?

Speakers must be 16 or older. And although the upper age limit is somewhere around 30, as long as you're able to relate to young people on a peer-to-peer level, we encourage you to apply.

What do young people get out of Good Grief Talks?

  • An understanding of what mental health is and why it's so important
  • Ways to identify if they or someone they know may be struggling
  • Tools to use in being there for someone who is struggling
  • Knowledge of how to connect to a variety of local and national mental health supports
  • Methods of practicing self awareness and self care to build mental health resilience
  • Inspiring calls to get involved and take action

Your Responsibilities: Speaking and Facilitating

  • Develop and deliver inspirational speeches, making use of storytelling and multimedia resources, to engage young people of all ages – as well as teachers and other adults

Modify speech and workshop content to suit a variety of age groups, learning and behavioural needs and special requests from schools
