Signs of stress

Ultimately, there is no complete definition of signs of stress, the main thing is that you know what you’re like at your best. Stress in small doses can make you thrive before exams with that cramming moment. For some of us it’s our saviour and helps us pass, but for others it can affect you in more ways than you think. That’s the difference between acute and chronic stress. There are many different reasons for stress. Often it’s work, or its family, or maybe you’re just having a bad day. That is why signs of stress also comes in different forms and waves affecting you and I differently. But, there are also ways to deal with stress, talking and connecting with friends or colleagues can help. Maybe avoid alcohol (I know it may be tough!)? Or take your energy out with exercise. It’s all about spotting the signs of stress and giving yourself time to relax with a better work-life balance

Why is it called Burnout?

What is Burnout? It may sound obvious, but it literally means that you are burned out, the fire inside you has stopped and you’re running out of fuel to keep going. You can feel both mentally and physically exhausted and even the little things that used to be fun and now far too much. Burnout often occurs when people are exposed to too much stress for too long. Dealing with too much at the same time with a poor work-life balance, or even a single issue can mean a lot more to you. There will come a certain point where you just can’t relax anymore and you’re on all the time. The best thing to do is to realise you’re having a burnout. It’s easy to ignore it but it might just become tougher. There are plenty of tips and advice about burnouts to help keep you going and bring back that fire.

Burnout symptoms

There are many different signs that could be relevant for you or friends, such as feeling helpless or alone or mentally exhausted. These are the mental symptoms. Physical symptoms could be crying, constant headaches and little energy to get out of bed. It may take the joy out of things which mean the most to you and it’s important to realise that you aren’t alone. Ultimately, there is nothing wrong with burnout, it can happen to anyone in any environment. Talking to friends, family and professionals can help you recognise your burnout symptoms, however, you may need to change certain aspects in your life.
